Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

Aircraft Engineers or Aircraft Maintenance Engineers must ensure that the Aircraft is maintained in full-serviceable condition otherwise known as “air-worthy” for the safety of its passengers and users at all times. Aircraft Engineers are trained to identify the problem and replace the problem. All Scheduled or Unscheduled Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul can be carried out only by Aircraft Engineers and Technicians who have completed their Basic AME course and obtained their License.

To become an Aircraft Engineer or Technician in India one must obtain a "License" issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India. 

Since 1986, Hindustan Aviation Academy (HAA) has been providing Aircraft Maintenance Engineering courses approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India.

HAA is an approved Maintenance Training Organisation (MTO) as per DGCA CAR 147 - Basic and offers both;

Practical Training or "Operational Environment Practical Training" is conducted in DGCA approved CAR 145 Aircraft Maintenance Organisations (AMO) like >

1. IndiGo (Bengaluru International Airport Limited)

2. Air Works India Engineering Pvt. Ltd. (Hosur Aerodrome) 

Students also have the advantage of completing their BSc. (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance degree affiliated to Bangalore University (North) during their License programmes (as optional) enabling him/her to proceed with higher studies like PG courses, if necessary or take up any career other technical careers in the field of Aeronautics and Aerospace. 

 

Eligibility:

Anybody with a passion for Aeronautics and any of the below academic qualifications -

  • Pass 12th STD with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics 
  • Diploma in Aeronautical / Mechanical / EEE / ECE Engineering streams from any approved DTE & AICTE Polytechnics. 
Training:

HAA has long term agreements with IndiGo and Air Works India Engineering Pvt. Ltd. for conducting Operation Environment Practical Training & Experience. 

Some of the Practical Training & Experience is offered on serviceable Aircrafts like LearJet, Cessna, HAL HT2 available in the campus and Simulators (MFTD). 

Students are required to observe and perform tasks as per the Practical Task List provided and maintain Log-Books. 

Placements:

All students of AME are immediately employable soon after their course with the experience gained from HAA. Those students who have exceptional academic and character record are offered “Contract of Employment” towards the end of their course.

HAA collaborations with IndiGo, Air Works India Engg Pvt. Ltd., Dviation (Malaysia), ST Engineering (Aerospace) Singapore and few other companies helps the Students to choose the right opportunity avaiable to them. 

Most of our students are already well placed in the public sector including Defense aviation and private sector of the Aviation Industry. For e.g., Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Airworks India Engineering, IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir, Vistara, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, Saudia Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Malaysian Airlines, KLM, British Airways and some OEMs like Airbus, Boeing, GE, Akka Technologies, Collins Aerospace, Textron, Thale, Pratt & Whitney, GE, Bombardier and all other Aviation related companies.

Above all, the student must be determined and motivated to take up any amount of challenges involved in the Aviation industry by grooming himself / herself to be a disciplined, well mannered and smart individual to be employed as a highly skilled / dedicated Licensed Aircraft Engineer.

Documents Required for Admission:
  • 10th Grade Original Mark-sheets 

  • 12th Grade Original Mark-sheets or 

  •  Diploma or it's Equivalent - Original Mark-sheets,

  • Recent Stamp Size Colour Photograph in white-background – 10 nos,

  • Medical Certificate,

  • Transfer Certificate.

International Students must submit the above documents along with

  • Equivalence Certificate and

  • copies of Valid Passport and

  • Student Visa.
