Aircraft Maintenance Engineering

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's (AME) responsibility is to keep an aircraft in working order or airworthy through regular maintenance, repairs, overhauls and inspections. The Civil Aviation Authority regulates/issues Certificates of Airworthiness to private and commercial aircraft which are in fully serviceable condition at all times. To certify an Aircraft as "Air-Worthy"; maintenance, repair and overhaul work is carried out on an aircraft periodically and it is made fully serviceable. Only qualified and certified Aircraft Maintenance Engineers who are issued with the license in various categories by the Civil Aviation Department are allowed to expedite such maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on an aircraft.

With the recent FDI policies favouring Civil Aviation, Skill Development initiatives and Make In India programmes, the opportunities in the Aviation sector has increased. It is also evident by the large orders of aircrafts by Indigo, Go Air, Vistara and other airlines that have received their AOP recently.

Hindustan Aviation Academy offers 2  kinds of AME courses;

  • DGCA CAR Part 66 Govt of India – 3 years course, CAR 66 B1 or B2, is approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India.
  • EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) Part 66 B1 and/or B2 - 5 Years Structured Training course leading to a Type Rating on an Airbus 320 and/or Boeing 737. HAA conducts this course with an EASA & DGCA approved Part 145 Airline MRO (Maintenance, Repaid and Overhauling organisation) towards obtaining Type-Rating Certification on a narrow / wide body aircraft.

HAA also gives the opportunity of completing the 3 years License course with a BSc. Aircraft Maintenance undergraduate degree. This is optional for the student if she/he wants a degree certificate along with their License course at the same time. The applicant must register as per the University rules and regulations. This would assure a degree certificate at the end of your 3 years course and enables you to go ahead with higher studies like MS or MSc or MBA as well, if you wish to.

The Academy prepares the students to appear for the Module Examinations, in the "B1 - Mechanical" and "B2 - Avionics" stream. After a minimum 3 years of practical experience on live operating aircrafts, a type-rating on specific type / task training is possible; rating on specific fleets of aircrafts by Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Embraer, Dassault, etc.

Hindustan Aviation Academy follows the syllabus specified by DGCA CAR Part 66 and EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) Part 66 to train the students.
